In a powerful demonstration of faith, unity, and national commitment, senior church leaders under the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations (ZHOCD) paid a pastoral courtesy call on President ED Mnangagwa at State House, where they offered prayers for wisdom, divine guidance, peace and prosperity for the nation.

The delegation, led by Rt. Rev. Ignatius Makumbe, Anglican Bishop of Central Zimbabwe and President of the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC), together with other church leaders, gathered to seek God’s blessings upon the President and the country as Zimbabwe continues pursuing its development agenda.

ZHOCD is an ecumenical coalition comprising four apex Christian bodies: the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC), the Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops’ Conference (ZCBC), the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ), and the Union for the Development of Apostolic Churches in Zimbabwe Africa (UDACIZA).

The coalition serves as a unified Christian voice on matters of national importance, promoting peace, justice, reconciliation, and sustainable development.

The visit underscored the Church’s enduring role as a pillar of moral guidance, social cohesion, and spiritual support in national affairs. Through prayer and fellowship, the church leaders reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, unity, and hope among Zimbabweans.

Speaking after the engagement, Rt. Rev. Makumbe described the meeting as a pastoral mission aimed at praying for the President and the nation.”We came to pray for wisdom, guidance, and God’s continued blessings upon Zimbabwe.

As a nation, we believe that sustainable development must be anchored on spiritual hope, which gives people the strength to persevere and continue working towards a better future,” said Rt. Rev. Makumbe.

He emphasized that while economic and infrastructural development remain important, spiritual values play an equally critical role in shaping a prosperous and harmonious society.

The courtesy call reflected the strong partnership between faith-based organisations and national leadership in fostering a united, peaceful, and forward-looking Zimbabwe.

It also highlighted the Church’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote national development while nurturing the moral and spiritual well-being of citizens.

As Zimbabwe advances on its developmental trajectory, the prayers and encouragement offered by the church leaders serve as a reminder that faith, unity, and collective purpose remain essential ingredients in building a prosperous nation for present and future generations.
