ZANU PF has intensified its grassroots mobilisation campaign in Harare Province, with more than 4,000 district executive members and party cadres converging for the Harare Province Inter-District Leadership Meeting and verification exercise, signalling a renewed drive to strengthen party structures, expand membership and position the province for future electoral success in Zone 3 Kuwadzana, Harare.

The meeting, which recorded an overwhelming turnout particularly from Zone 3 in Kuwadzana focused on leadership verification, organisational strengthening and voter mobilisation following the enactment of the Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3.

Addressing the gathering, ZANU PF Harare Province Chairman Cde Advocate Godwills Masimirembwa applauded the large attendance, saying it reflected the party’s growing strength and organisational capacity in the capital.

“I am pleased to see such a large number of District Executives. It shows that ZANU PF is alive and strong in Harare,” he said.

Adv Masimirembwa explained that the ongoing verification exercise is designed to build a credible and active leadership structure capable of delivering victories in future parliamentary and local authority elections.

“We have embarked on this verification exercise so that we increase the number of councillors and MPs in Zone 3. You are all aware of the provisions of Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3, which provides for the election of the President by Members of Parliament. As a province, voting in more MPs means delivering more parliamentary votes for the President,” he said.

He urged every district, ward and branch to intensify mobilisation efforts, stressing that no constituency should be surrendered to the opposition.

“We need to be organised so that we will have Members of Parliament and councillors from ZANU PF. Never allow any ward or constituency to be taken by the opposition.”

Adv Masimirembwa added that increasing the number of ZANU PF legislators from Harare would strengthen the province’s influence in national governance and create greater opportunities for Cabinet representation.

“Securing more MPs in Parliament increases the likelihood of having more Cabinet Ministers emerging from Harare Province. This will directly help solve key issues currently affecting the province. Imagine having a Cabinet Minister responsible for Transport that translates into the rehabilitation of roads and critical local infrastructure.”

Supporting the provincial mobilisation strategy, Harare Provincial Political Commissar Cde Voyage Dambuza said the Commissariat Department has launched the ‘Fishers of Men’ programme to recruit more members into the revolutionary party while promoting entrepreneurship and self-reliance among supporters.

He said the verification exercise would serve as the foundation for future empowerment programmes.

“After the successful completion of the verification process, our next move is to roll out socio-economic empowerment programmes for all members captured in the provincial database,” said Dambuza.

He also reminded party members that all donations should now be channelled through the Treasurer General at the ZANU PF Headquarters in accordance with party procedures.

In his closing remarks, Masimirembwa called on party structures to remain united, disciplined and fully compliant with the ZANU PF Green Book by conducting regular monthly meetings. He challenged Harare Province to emulate the electoral performance of Mashonaland Central Province by delivering victories across all constituencies.

“We need to work hard constituency by constituency. We must do what Mashonaland Central achieved and deliver victories across Harare.”

He also condemned the planned demonstrations, describing them as actions that threaten peace, stability and national development. He urged Zimbabweans to continue with their normal business and daily activities while preserving peace and national unity, warning that anyone seeking to cause unlawful disorder would face the full application of the law.

The high turnout at the provincial inter-district meeting underscored ZANU PF’s renewed focus on strengthening grassroots structures, expanding its membership base and consolidating support ahead of future electoral processes through an intensified mobilisation and leadership verification campaign.
