Destiny of Afrika Network (DANet) founder and president, Reverend Dr. Obedia Musindo, yesterday convened an All Christians Rally for Peace and Nation Building in Harare, bringing together approximately 600 pastors, church leaders and congregants denouncing tomorrow planning unlawful demonstrations.

The gathering focused on prayers for peace, national unity and discussions on the planned demonstrations scheduled for July 31.

Addressing the congregation, Rev. Musindo said he believes Zimbabwe’s continued peace and stability are important for national development, economic activity and community wellbeing.

He encouraged citizens to remain calm, conduct themselves peacefully and respect the country’s laws.

“My appeal to Zimbabweans is that we should remain peaceful, continue with our daily activities and work together for the good of our nation. Peace creates an environment where families, businesses, churches and schools can operate without disruption,” Rev. Musindo said.

Throughout the rally, pastors led prayers for the nation, government leaders, law enforcement agencies, businesses, schools, health institutions and communities.

The prayers centred on unity, wisdom, peace and continued national progress.Rev. Musindo cited Romans 13, saying Christians are encouraged to pray for those in positions of authority and to promote peaceful coexistence within society.

“As Christians, we have a responsibility to pray for our nation and its leaders so that Zimbabwe continues to enjoy peace, stability and harmony. We believe peace benefits everyone regardless of background,” he said.

During his address, Rev. Musindo also commented on the recently enacted Constitutional Amendment Act 3, saying he believes it has the potential to contribute to continuity in governance and long-term planning.

Those remarks reflected his personal views on the legislation. He further said constitutional rights should be exercised responsibly and with due regard for the rights and freedoms of other citizens.

“Every citizen enjoys constitutional rights, and it is equally important that we respect one another’s rights and work together in preserving peace and public order,” he said.

Rev. Musindo also highlighted DANet’s ongoing community programmes, including youth empowerment initiatives, entrepreneurship support, scholarships and income-generating projects aimed at improving livelihoods in different communities.

He encouraged young people to pursue education, vocational training and entrepreneurship as pathways to economic empowerment.

“Our desire is to see communities empowered through skills development, education and productive economic activities. These are some of the programmes DANet continues to support in different parts of the country,” he said.

The church leader said peaceful conditions are important for businesses, schools, churches and other institutions to function effectively. He said stable environments help communities focus on development, employment, investment and service delivery.

The rally concluded with prayers for national unity, peace and prosperity.

Pastors and congregants prayed for continued harmony among Zimbabweans and for wisdom for all leaders and institutions responsible for serving the public.

Participants dispersed peacefully after the meeting, with organizers encouraging attendees to return to their respective communities and continue with their normal daily activities.

The planned July 31 demonstrations have attracted differing reactions from political parties, civil society organisations, religious groups and members of the public.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain peaceful and to conduct themselves in accordance with the law.
