HARARE — Teen Rescue Mission (TRM) has intensified its efforts to empower young people with practical skills and opportunities after youths undertaking life-skills courses at the organisation’s Youth Centre were given an opportunity to attend job interviews with a leading corporate company.

The initiative has already yielded positive results, with some of the youths successfully securing employment and preparing to begin their new jobs.

The development marks a significant milestone for TRM, which continues to equip young people with practical skills while creating pathways from training into meaningful employment and self-reliance.

The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to TRM for facilitating the opportunity, saying the organisation had helped them move away from idleness and street life towards acquiring skills, securing employment and building more productive futures.

The achievement highlights the importance of connecting youth training programmes with real opportunities in the corporate world, enabling young people to translate their skills into sustainable livelihoods.

Meanwhile, TRM also participated in the Junior Parliament Tablets Hand-Over Ceremony after being invited to the event recently, where tablets donated by President Emmerson Mnangagwa were handed over to Junior Parliamentarians.

The donation is aimed at supporting and empowering young people in their education, leadership and parliamentary activities.

The ceremony was led by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Province, Hon. Senator Charles Zvidzayi Tawengwa.

During the event, Junior Parliamentarians commended TRM for its continued work in supporting teenagers and young people through skills development and empowerment initiatives.

They also expressed their commitment to strengthening their partnership with TRM in programmes aimed at empowering young people, creating opportunities and addressing challenges affecting the youth.

The two developments reinforce TRM’s broader commitment to complementing Government efforts by promoting its campaign of “No to Drugs, Early Pregnancy and Crime” while equipping young people with skills, opportunities and positive alternatives.

Through continued collaboration with Government, the corporate sector and other stakeholders, TRM remains focused on helping young people become productive, responsible and self-reliant citizens who can contribute meaningfully to the development of Zimbabwe.
