The inaugural Dravental Golf Day set for September 3 at Wingate Golf Club in Harare is shaping up as more than a corporate sporting event, with organisers seeking to use the tournament to mobilise resources for youth skills development and digital empowerment.

Hosted by Dravental Car Hire & Tours under the theme “Powering the Future, Driving Impact,” the event is expected to bring together companies, entrepreneurs, professionals and business leaders while creating a platform for investment in young people.

Dr Maureen Mbondiah CEO Dravental Car Hire and Tours and Mr Albert Masaka are representing the two organisations, whose commitment to communutg empowerment is visible enough.

Deadline for registering has been set at 31 August 2026.

Here Are 10 Things You Need to Know

1. The beneficiary is at the heart of the tournament.
The Dravental Golf Day is supporting Momentous Academy, a youth-focused initiative committed to skills development and digital empowerment. The aim is to help young people gain practical, relevant skills that can improve their readiness for employment, entrepreneurship and participation in the digital economy.

2. This is an investment in young people, not simply a donation.
The tournament seeks to mobilise resources that can translate into tangible opportunities for young people. Corporate participation can help provide access to skills, knowledge and digital capabilities that have the potential to shape livelihoods and future careers.

While the tournament takes place over a single day, its intended impact is much longer-term. The goal is to contribute to a pipeline of young people who are better equipped to enter the workplace, start businesses, pursue digital opportunities and contribute meaningfully to the economy.

4. Corporates can turn social responsibility into meaningful engagement.
For companies, the event provides an opportunity to combine corporate social investment with business networking, client engagement and brand visibility. Rather than simply writing a cheque, businesses can participate directly in a platform built around youth development and economic opportunity.

5. The golf course becomes a corporate networking platform.
The tournament brings together business executives, entrepreneurs, professionals, clients and potential partners in an informal setting. For participating companies, this creates opportunities to strengthen existing relationships, open new conversations and build networks that can translate into future business.

6. Dravental is putting its own business platform behind the cause.
Dravental Car Hire & Tours is using its position in the transport and tourism sector to create a platform where business, sport and social impact intersect. A company built around connecting people and destinations is extending that philosophy to connecting businesses with opportunities to support the next generation.

7. Companies can put their brands where business and impact meet.
The golf day offers opportunities for four-ball participation, sponsorship, hospitality and brand activation. This gives companies access to a targeted corporate audience while associating their brands with youth empowerment, enterprise, sport and positive social impact.

8. There are different entry points for corporate participation.
A four-ball costs US$200, while individual participation is US$50. Sponsorship opportunities include a US$1,000 gin tent sponsorship, US$300 hole sponsorship and US$200 four-ball sponsorship, allowing businesses to participate according to their budgets and marketing objectives.

9. The tournament is built around shared value.
The proposition is straightforward: corporates gain opportunities for networking, client engagement, hospitality and brand exposure, while their participation helps mobilise support for youth skills development and digital empowerment. It is a model where business interests and social impact can work together.

10. The real measure of success comes after the tournament.
The Dravental Golf Day should not be judged only by the number of golfers on the course or the brands displayed around the clubhouse. Its greater measure of success will be the opportunities created for young people, the partnerships forged between businesses and the resources mobilised to support skills development.

Ultimately, the Dravental Golf Day is an invitation to corporates to do more than play golf. It is an opportunity to build relationships, strengthen brands and invest in a generation whose skills will shape Zimbabwe’s economic future.
