CHITUNGWIZA — Teen Rescue Mission (TRM) has strengthened its commitment to supporting young people in Chitungwiza following a courtesy visit to the city’s Mayor, Her Worship Ms Rosaria Mangoma, and the Chitungwiza Executive Council management.

During the engagement, TRM outlined the impact of its programmes in empowering young people, equipping them with life skills and creating opportunities for employment and personal development.

Mayor Mangoma commended TRM for its efforts to address challenges affecting young people, particularly drug and substance abuse, early pregnancy and crime. She also applauded the organisation for equipping youths with practical life skills and helping connect them to employment opportunities with major companies in Zimbabwe.

The engagement comes as TRM continues to provide practical support to vulnerable families in the community.

Recently, the organisation reached out to more than 300 young people, teenagers and guardians in Chitungwiza, distributing rice donated through the support of the Chinese Embassy.

The relief initiative provided much-needed assistance to families struggling to meet basic needs, with beneficiaries expressing appreciation for the support.

The two initiatives reflect TRM’s broader approach of combining youth empowerment, social support and community engagement to address challenges facing young people.

TRM says it remains committed to working with local authorities, communities and other stakeholders to build safer and empowered communities.

The organisation continues to champion its message: NO to drugs, NO to early pregnancy and NO to crime while empowering young people and giving them hope for a better future.
