In a powerful display of inclusive governance and political maturity, the Government has intensified the Presidential Borehole Programme in Marondera, reinforcing a development agenda that places citizens’ welfare above political affiliation, in Marondera.

Speaking during the launch ceremony, Presidential Advisor Dr. Paul Tungwarara underscored that access to clean and safe water is a fundamental right for every Zimbabwean, regardless of region or political persuasion.

Dr. Tungwarara said the vision of His Excellency, President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, is anchored on the understanding that sustainable national development begins with healthy communities supported by reliable access to clean water. He noted that healthy children create the foundation for stronger schools, productive communities, and ultimately a prosperous nation.

The drilling of boreholes in Marondera, a constituency largely associated with the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has been widely viewed as a significant demonstration of a governance approach that prioritizes national development over partisan interests.

The spirit of political cooperation was also evident as the CCC Mayor of Marondera, together with several opposition councillors, openly expressed support for the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 3) Bill (CAB3). Their position reflected an emerging consensus on key national developmental and legislative issues, signaling a rare moment of unity in Zimbabwe’s often polarized political landscape.

Adding a touching dimension of reconciliation and empowerment to the occasion, Dr. Tungwarara also extended a major philanthropic gesture to an opposition councillor from Mudzi, who received a brand-new vehicle and financial support to fully rebuild his home.

The combination of infrastructure development, political collaboration, and direct community empowerment highlights a shifting trajectory in Zimbabwean politics — one increasingly centered on inclusivity, national unity, and people-driven development.

By ensuring that opposition-led constituencies are not excluded from the national development agenda, the Presidential Borehole Programme continues to set a strong example of equitable governance while fostering social cohesion and transforming communities across the country.
