Hon. Pedzai Scott Sakupwanya has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Mabvuku-Tafara through a wide-ranging package of community-focused initiatives aimed at improving health services, education, transport, food security, youth empowerment and sports development within the constituency.

Addressing residents during the initiative, Sakupwanya said the programmes are designed to accelerate grassroots development while supporting Zimbabwe’s broader Vision 2030 agenda championed by President Dr. ED Mnangagwa.

He emphasized that empowering communities at local level remains central to building an inclusive and prosperous society, with special attention being directed toward youths and vulnerable households.

The first pillar of the programme focuses on health delivery. Through the Scottland Medical Centre, residents are accessing free medical treatment, while free ambulance services have also been introduced to ensure rapid emergency response and ease the burden on struggling families facing medical crises.

In the education sector, underprivileged learners within Mabvuku-Tafara are benefiting from school fees assistance aimed at reducing dropout rates and widening access to education for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Residents are also benefitting from free bus services operating within the constituency.

The transport initiative is assisting students, workers, job seekers, and families to move around more easily while reducing transport costs for everyday community needs.

To strengthen household resilience, food distribution programmes have been rolled out to support vulnerable families facing food insecurity.

The initiative seeks to cushion residents during difficult economic periods while reinforcing community solidarity.

Recognising the importance of economic empowerment, Sakupwanya has also expanded free vocational and skills training programmes targeting youths and unemployed residents.

The training focuses on practical and income-generating skills intended to promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and employment creation within the constituency.

Sports development remains another major pillar of the constituency transformation programme. Scottland FC, Scottland Academy, and Scottland Sports Villas continue to play a key role in nurturing local talent, while construction of a US$30 million stadium is underway to create a modern sporting hub capable of hosting tournaments and community sporting activities.

School sports competitions are also being organised to identify and nurture grassroots talent.

Speaking during the programme, ZANU PF Harare Provincial Political Commissar Cde Voyage Dambuza applauded the initiatives being spearheaded in Mabvuku-Tafara, describing them as a practical example of youth-driven empowerment and community-centred leadership.

He said the projects reflect the importance of empowering young people through opportunities that improve livelihoods, skills and social welfare.

“Youths must position themselves as active participants in national development and not spectators. Vision 2030 can only be achieved when young people take leadership in building stronger communities and uplifting one another through unity, discipline and hard work,” he said.

Cde Voyage further encouraged young people within ZANU PF structures to embrace development-oriented politics and community service, saying the future of the country depends on a generation prepared to lead through action.

“The future belongs to youths who are innovative, organised and focused on development. What we are witnessing in Mabvuku-Tafara is a practical demonstration that empowering communities at grassroots level creates hope, stability and national progress,” he added.

Hon. Sakupwanya said the projects represent a long-term commitment to “community-centric development,” where residents are directly empowered and included in the constituency’s growth trajectory.

“The youths are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but the leaders of today. Our responsibility is to create opportunities that allow them to realise their potential and contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said.

Prior to these constituency-based programmes, Sakupwanya’s philanthropic work had already attracted national recognition for complementing Government efforts in health, education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development across several communities.

That growing track record now continues to shape the ongoing transformation agenda in Mabvuku-Tafara, where the focus remains on delivering measurable impact and improving the everyday lives of residents at grassroots level.
