The Harare Metropolitan Province leadership has intensified its call for stronger grassroots mobilisation, enhanced organisational discipline, and expanded cell structures as Zanu-PF positions itself for upcoming electoral programmes and long-term political consolidation.

In his remarks at theHarare Provincial Conference on June 14, the Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Province, Hon Charles Tawengwa, opened the proceedings by congratulating thr President Dr ED Mnangagwa on Zimbabwe’s successful election to the United Nations Security Council as a Non-Permanent Member.

He described the achievement as a historic diplomatic milestone that reflects growing international confidence in Zimbabwe’s leadership and the Second Republic’s engagement and re-engagement agenda.

Hon Tawengwa said the development demonstrates Zimbabwe’s increasing influence on the global stage and serves as recognition of President ED Mnangagwa’s leadership in advancing national interests and international cooperation.

Turning to domestic development, Hon Tawengwa, highlighted progress recorded under the Second Republic, citing stable electricity supply, ongoing infrastructure upgrades and road rehabilitation projects, among others.

Among notable developments, he pointed to major road works including the Mabvuku Interchange project, presidential schemes, describing such initiatives as evidence of the Government’s commitment to modernising infrastructure and improving service delivery.

Hon Tavengwa challenged party members to remain focused on development priorities and urged them to counter narratives that undermine national progress. The conference then shifted focus to party organisation and grassroots mobilisation.

Addressing the members, at the Harare Provincial Conference, Harare Metropolitan Province Chairman, Godwill Masimirembwa stressed that the foundation of Zanu-PF’s strength lies within its cell structures, describing the cell as the engine room of the party’s mobilisation and ideological framework.

He called for thorough verification and maintenance of accurate cell records while urging officials to carry out the process with discipline, transparency and accountability.“The cell remains the engine room of the party.

Every victory achieved by Zanu-PF begins at the grassroots level where members engage communities and champion the party’s vision for national development,” said Cde Masimirembwa.

He further explained that the newly introduced Guide for Cell Chairpersons is intended to simplify responsibilities, strengthen accountability and improve coordination at grassroots level.According to the Provincial Chairman, effective and active cells remain central to building a responsive and people-centred revolutionary movement capable of advancing the aspirations of Zimbabweans.

He called for renewed strategic planning, intensified mobilisation efforts, and stronger unity across all party structures to improve future electoral outcomes.Highlighting Harare’s strategic importance, Cde Masimirembwa noted that the province has an estimated one million registered voters and represents a significant opportunity for growth.

As preparations gather momentum towards Cell Day scheduled for 27 June, he announced an ambitious target of registering more than 600,000 members while broadening the party’s support base across all districts and constituencies.

Adding to the mobilisation agenda, Zanu-PF Harare Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Voyage Dambuza challenged party structures to increase the current total of 14,239 cells to 21,000 cells as part of efforts to strengthen electoral readiness.

He emphasised that mobilisation should not be viewed as the responsibility of leadership alone.

“It is not my duty, the Minister of State’s duty, or the executive’s duty alone to mobilise the party. Mobilisation belongs to everyone in Zanu-PF because the power has been decentralised to all structures,” said PC Dambuza.

The conference also encouraged members to maximise responsible use of social media as a strategic communication tool to promote unity, educate communities on government programmes, counter misinformation, and attract new members into party structures.

Cde Masimirembwa expressed confidence that through discipline, hard work, and coordinated mobilisation, the province could secure at least 16 constituencies and contribute significantly to future electoral success.

He commended Political Commissars, district leadership, and all party structures for their continued mobilisation efforts and urged intensified recruitment campaigns supported by proper member registration at cell level.

The conference stressed on a renewed call for unity, patriotism, discipline, and stronger grassroots structures, with delegates reaffirming that electoral success begins at the cell level and that an organised grassroots base remains the cornerstone of future victories.
