Destiny of Afrika Network (DANet) held a business empowerment meeting at Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare today, attracting over 100 people from various Christian denominations amidst a sloppy, illegal 31 July demonstration.

The programme brought together women, young people and members of disadvantaged communities to receive entrepreneurship training aimed at promoting financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.

Organisers said participants are expected to benefit from loan opportunities that will assist them in establishing or expanding income-generating projects.

Addressing the gathering, DANet founder and president Rev. Dr. Obedia Musindo said the organisation’s focus is on empowering communities through practical economic opportunities.

He encouraged participants to pursue entrepreneurship and productive investment, saying lasting development is built on creating businesses, jobs and sustainable sources of income.

“People are looking for opportunities that improve their lives and enable them to earn a living. Our focus is on equipping communities with knowledge and support that can help them become economically self-reliant,” Rev Musindo said.

Musindo said Zimbabwe’s development requires greater participation in productive economic activities, particularly among young people and women, whom he described as key drivers of community transformation.

He also pointed to ongoing infrastructure development and investment projects taking place across the country, saying such initiatives create opportunities for businesses, employment and local economic growth.

According to him, the business meeting reflects its broader commitment to promoting entrepreneurship, skills development and community empowerment.

The organisation said it intends to continue rolling out programmes that provide training, mentorship and financial support to aspiring entrepreneurs.

The meeting concluded with participants expressing optimism about the proposed loan facilities and future business development initiatives, with organisers encouraging attendees to translate the knowledge gained into viable enterprises capable of improving household incomes and contributing to broader economic development.
