The Harare Central Prison Inmates Choral Group has delivered an uplifting performance during a Sunday worship service at the Messianic Miracle Family Centre International held at the Harare Agricultural Show Grounds, showcasing the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) commitment to inmate rehabilitation through spiritual transformation.

The inmates, who were invited by the church to minister through song, were accompanied by Acting Senior Chaplain Chief Superintendent Gift Chirara, who led the ZPCS delegation.

Addressing the congregation, Chief Superintendent Chirara expressed gratitude to the Messianic Miracle Family Centre International for extending the invitation to the inmates’ choral group.

“ZPCS commends your efforts as a church to initiate such engagements because it plays an important role in strengthening inmates’ spiritual growth in their rehabilitation journey, which remains primary for correctional institutions,” he said.

Chief Superintendent Chirara highlighted that partnerships between faith-based organisations and correctional institutions are crucial as they provide inmates with opportunities to rebuild hope, develop positive values and prepare for successful reintegration into society.

Messianic Miracle Family Centre International leader, Apostle Elderadai, commended ZPCS for honouring the invitation and maintaining a strong partnership with the church in ministering to inmates.

He described the Service as one of the initiatives that promote spiritual renewal and moral transformation among offenders.

“This service highlighted the importance of collaboration between religious organisations and correctional institutions in supporting our relatives behind bars for their transformation.

“This choral group’s inspiring performance served as a reminder of the transformative power of faith and music in restoring hope and dignity within their souls,” he said.

The inmates attended the church service as part of ongoing efforts by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service to advance offender rehabilitation through spiritual programmes, in line with its correctional mandate.
